Installation Prerequisites

cunoFS supports the Linux operating system, and can run inside Docker and other virtual environments such as Hyper-V and Virtualbox.

Follow the instructions in this guide specific to the operating system of the client that needs to access object storage.

Linux clients are all set! cunoFS comes with everything you need.

Windows clients require Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL2): Install WSL on Windows. Install and use directly as per Linux instructions.

Mac to follow this guide, clients require Docker for Mac.

Note

Alternatives to Docker on Mac are available, some recommended alternatives are:

• Rancher Desktop (free) - If you’re on Apple Silicon, enable Rosetta (Settings > Virtual Machine > VZ: Enable Rosetta support) and VirtioFS (Settings > Virtual Machine > Volumes: virtiofs)

• OrbStack for Mac (may be faster) - OrbStack works out of the box.

Unfortunately, colima is not currently supported.
